Hi, everybody! My name is Claire and I´m from New Zealand. I´m thirteen years old and I live in a big house with my family. I´ve got two brothers and one little sister. Our neighborhood is beautiful. My brothers share one room and I share mine with my little sister. She is great! She is six years old and her name is Tina. In my room, I always read a book and use my computer. I collect perfume bottles and magazines. I don´t collect stamps. I love reading horror stories but I don´t like watching horror films on TV. I get up very early every morning, at 6.30 AM. In my free time, I go to the club to see my friend and to play. My favorite sport is women´s hockey.
The main equipment for this sport is a small, hard ball and a hockey stick. You need to wear shorts, a t-shirt and trainers. I go to play hockey on Sunday morning with my friends. I usually wear a pink t-shirt and gloves when I play. My favorite hockey player is Luciana Aymar. She is from Rosario, Argentina. She is tall and slim. She´s got brown eyes and her hair is long and dark. She is very fast. She is a great sportswoman!

Who was John Lennon?


John Winston Ono Lennon was an English singer, songwriter and peace activist who founded the music band called ´´The Beatles´´. It was the most successful band in the history of popular music. John was born in Liverpool. He formed his first ´´The Beatles´´ in 1960. John and the other three members, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George Harrison ascended worldwide fame during the 1960s.

Lennon wrote two songs called ´´Give peace a chance´´ and ´´Instant Karma´´. Another famous song was ´´Imagine´´ which became an international anthem to ask for peace in the world. John married Yoko Ono in 1969. Yoko Ono was his second wife. When he was younger he had his first child called Julian. John Lennon became an influence for people. His songs inspired people around the world. He was against the Vietnam War and he expressed that to people through his music.

On 8 December, 1980 at approximately 5.00 p.m., Lennon and Yoko Ono were walking to a limo when a fan approached. His name was Mark David Chapman. He wanted an autograph. Chapman was 25 years old and he was a security guard from Honolulu, Hawaii. Chapman had been waiting for Lennon outside the Dakota since mid-morning. After Lennon gave him an autograph Chapman murdered him with his gun. He shot Lennon. People around the world cried for John and said: ´´He killed our leader and hero. We´ll miss him forever´´

Nowadays, people still consider John Lennon a great and peaceful songwriter of all times. They still remember how important was for them to have listened to his music. His lyrics are still so meaningful for everyone.

Chicos hagan lo que puedan, dejen todo plasmado en la carpeta. Tomen nota y cuando nos volvamos a ver solucionamos las dudas. Es una forma de mantenerse en contacto con lo que tenemos que aprender este año. Tengan paciencia porque esto complico todo, será un año distinto. De mi parte, les pido que se cuiden. No salgan y traten de hacer todo. Lean con atención. Utilicen diccionarios de inglés-castellano si se les complica mucho. Comiencen con el Reader, la lectura los mantiene entrenados.
